Having a thriving blog is THE BEST long-term strategy for your business...
And we believe every direct seller should have one at some point if they're serious about growing a full-time income.
Today, you will learn all about easily creating a blog on your own and how to start a WordPress blog.

Debbie Downer
"Hold the phone! But isn't blogging dead? Doesn't it take waaaaay too much time? Oh, oh, and isn't it like impossible to make any money with a blog unless you have like...a bajillion visitors a month? What's up with that???"
Oh, hi Debbie! I see you're having another wonderfully positive day today!
Oh don't worry, I hear what you're saying. But I'm here to tell you that...
Sorry for that interruption. With that out of the way, let's get started with creating your WordPress blog!
The Big Picture
If you know nothing about getting a website, WordPress, and are a general non-techie, no worries! I've got you covered.
But before we dive in, I'd like to briefly outline what each step is going to be so you have some context before going deep into how to do each step.
To make things a little more simple, let's think about building your website in terms of building a new house.
First, you're going to need an address (Domain Name)
Where exactly are you going to build your house?
In website terms, this is called a "domain name".
The very first thing you will need to do when starting a WordPress blog on Bluehost is to think about what you want your domain name to be.
The domain name for this website is "PaulaRamm.com".
Finding a name can be tough, and I would give some serious thought to this.
You want your name to be something that is:
If you have a unique name that isn't too hard to spell, you can't go wrong with just using "FirstNameLastName.com".
If you're not going to use your name, you could try going with a term or phrase that those in your target market will recognize and resonate with.
Once you have your name, you can easily claim your domain directly through Bluehost.
So you are going to need to decide what you want your website address/domain name to be, and you're going to want to have a name BEFORE you go to make your site.
Second, your home needs a foundation and framework (Web Hosting).
In website terms, this is called "hosting".
It's where the actual code and data for your website will reside, and there are different companies that will host your website for you.
The one we recommend, and use for all of our websites, is Bluehost.
Once you have your address and foundation (domain and hosting), it's time to actually design what you want your home to look like.
Third, design your home (WordPress)
In website terms, you design your home using a tool called WordPress, which you're going to want to install.
Luckily for you, if you use Bluehost to host your website, then you will have WordPress installed automatically.
And that's it!
Once you complete these three steps, you will officially have a website!
Alright! Let's get started!

If you're looking to start a WordPress blog for cheap, then choosing Bluehost for your hosting needs may be your answer.
Bluehost is a great web host and we personally have had a great experience with them.
Bluehost is one of the top web hosting companies in 2019 and you can start your own blog with them for as low as $3.75 a month.

Debbie Downer
"Wait a second! Can't I just start on Blogger or Wix for a little cheaper and learn how to make a blog that way?"
NO… Don't do that.
There are so many reasons why a Blogger/Blogspot, Wix, Squarespace, or even a free WordPress.com blog is a really bad idea, and why you should instead setup a WordPress.org blog on Bluehost.
I'll have to write a future post on why, but in the meantime...
If you are interested in ever making money off your blog, freelancing, or turning it into a business, then paying for your hosting, such as through Bluehost, is a MUST.
It's extremely cheap as well to go through Bluehost.
You can run any of your own advertisements, affiliate links, direct advertising, etc. with a blog built on Bluehost.
On the other hand, making money on Blogger or any other free blogging platform is very difficult, and in many cases never happens.
On top of that, depending on the platform, you may even have ads placed on your site that you have no control over.
There are many reasons why you may want to choose Bluehost for your WordPress blog and I honestly believe they are one of the best web hosting providers. These reasons include:
The only reason you'd want to go with a free site is if you aren't interested in making money with your site right now, and you just want to get your feet wet with blogging by practicing on a free site.
You can click here to purchase a domain name and create a blog, then continue to follow the easy steps below.
2. Click on the package you are interested in
Attention: Be sure you have your website (Domain) Name chosen before choosing your plan!
With your name in hand, you're ready to select your plan. Basic is probably all you'll need.
If you want an even better deal, the best value would be purchasing a 36 month plan, as your monthly rate is much lower over the long run.
You may also want to buy domain privacy protection, which is only $0.99 a month. This is so that your contact information stays safe.
3. Register Your Domain Name

So by now you should have your domain name chosen in your mind.
During this step, you simply type it in!
If you purchased a domain using another service like GoDaddy, you can type it in the "i have a domain name" box.
However, like I mentioned above, it's much easier if you just do everything with Bluehost.
4. Enter your personal and payment information

If you've ever bought anything online before, then you've seen this before.
You're almost there! Are you smelling that beautiful new website smell yet?
*Breathes in deep. Exhales*
That's good stuff.
5. Create A Secure Password

You know how this works.
You choose something other than "Password" or "12345678".
Choose something hard, and secure, that no one can guess, not even you, and so you forget it later when you have to log in and have to choose "forgot password" and then when you go to reset your password it doesn't like your new one because apparently you've already used it before!

Well, if I used that password already then why wouldn't you let me log-in the first time???
Save yourself some trouble and put all of your passwords into a spreadsheet. This tip has nothing to do with creating a website, so consider it a bonus tip.
6. Install WordPress
This is actually a non-step since, if you used Bluehost, then WordPress has already installed automatically!
Bluehost is nice like that.
However, you will be prompted to pick a free WordPress theme. They're all pretty nice, so just pick whichever one strikes your fancy.

Now you have a blog!

Once your mind is done being blown, it's time to celebrate! Pat yourself on the back, have another cup of coffee, or climb on your roof and quack like a duck. You know, however it is you like to celebrate. 🙂
Congratulations! If you followed each of these steps, you should now have your very own website! Your very own home on the grand old interwebs.
You just got 10 years younger and 10x more hip!
And if you're already pretty young, you just matured like a fine wine, and are that much more sophisticated.
I commend you sir/madam!
Okay, those last couple lines might be hyperbole, but seriously. You've taken a BIG step towards taking your business to the next level.
Now you just have to learn...
Luckily for you, I've actually already put together a FREE course that will take you through how to do all of the above, and much more!
