I couldn’t believe it, after 2 failed attempts at starting my own business  which left me  totally devastated...

And to leave bringing home the bacon to him.

Wow! How would you have responded?

Well, for me it was a great relief and I actually chose to listen to him. 

And for 20 years, I did stop…

And focused on raising and homeschooling our 7 children.

(Yeah, we are one of THOSE families; weird and unsocialized lol)

I was at a homeschool convention when I saw a bunch of women huddled around a booth.

Curious, I went over to see what was getting so much attention only to discover that all the commotion was over this weird hair accessory that I had never seen before.

I tried it in my hair, and I loved it! Bought it on the spot!

However, a few months later, I went camping with my family and ended up misplacing it! Eek!

I tried to find how I could buy it online, but couldn't find anyone selling it!

I did manage to find the corporate website and contacted the company (through email, of course! lol) which in turn helped me get a replacement.

Before closing my email inbox, I saw something interesting in the signature of the email from corporate...  

I’m a total introvert!

The thought of using the phone, cold prospecting, and asking my friends and family left me feeling queasy.

On top of that, I still had 7 kids at home, whom I was not only raising but schooling, too!

And my business history showed it.

Plus I wanted people to buy my product only because they loved it; NOT because one of my friends or family members felt obligated to buy.

So I ignored the prevailing direct sales training...

And became the first one in my company to venture out into the unknown waters of building my business online.

When I first began my direct sales business, I "coincidentally" learned that one of my favorite bloggers was opening her blog to advertising.

Hmmm….

Also happening at the same time, was that one of my friends was in the process of adopting a baby!

My business could be an amazing vehicle to help others!

I could have an adoption fundraiser for my friends on this blog I loved by selling my company’s product! A great combination!

However, I wasn’t sure it would actually work...

It was the first time my company's product had been featured online!

I was so nervous and excited...but could I actually make money?

Paying $50 for a sidebar ad and review & giveaway seemed like a huge amount for me to risk, but I saw it not as an investment or a gamble, but as a donation.

If I didn’t make a dime on the giveaway, it was okay, because I saw it instead as a donation to a blog I believed in.

I kept this philosophy for all the bloggers and influencers I worked with.

I would ask myself...

Is this an influencer I want to support, even if I lose money?

I stayed up late to see the giveaway go live… the blogger did a great job, and it was beautiful!

I made enough to cover my costs plus had a nice amount to donate to my friends’ adoption efforts.

It dawned on me again, that YES, this could work! I could do this!

And think of all the people I could help!

I feverishly threw myself into this strategy and for 12 months worked on testing, figuring out what worked and getting better and better results each time!

I also figured out how to find new hot blogs to advertise on and developed a rolodex of the best bloggers to work with that had loyal followers who would buy almost anything the blogger recommended.

Initially, I had only planned on selling the product, not recruiting any team members, so I never even mentioned the business opportunity, but then found an amazing thing happening…

Again, no sales pitch, arm-twisting, or obligation.

After trying the product, they fell in love with it themselves, and saw it as a no-brainer to sell them as well!

I went on to build a great full-time income in just a matter of months, and hit 6-figures in less than 4 years.

I have since learned that this strategy I stumbled upon is known as "Influencer Marketing".

I firmly believe that Influencer Marketing is truly THE BEST way to get started building your network marketing business online if you are busy, introverted, or just don't want to leave home to build your business. 

This is because you get results right out of the gate. 

Now, this strategy is still going to take quite a bit of work and time, and there is no guarantee that you will get results right away.

However, if you commit to it, you really can build an amazing business that brings in residual income every month.

You can build a huge team, and a massive list of die-hard customers who buy from you again and again for years. 

And you can do it all without leaving home, hustling to vendor events, finding hostesses for home parties, bugging friends and family, or trying to be someone you're not. 

All you need for this strategy to work is to be yourself, care about others, and be resourceful.
