Facebook Parties Are Dying: Say Hello To Email Parties!

Back in the day, Facebook parties were all the rage!

Entire businesses sprung up to help train direct sellers how to build fantastic incomes with Facebook parties...

But when it comes to business, the truth is that the tactics are always changing.

Now strategies, on the other hand, remain constant. But how you execute that strategy (tactics), will change over time.

Right now, Facebook parties are on the way out, and EMAIL parties are on the horizon!

"What? Email?!"

I know, it sounds crazy! But I stumbled upon this tactic just recently, and it was a smashing success!

In fact, my very first email party was able to generate $596.18 in just one week!

And it's super easy to replicate.

What Is An Email Party?

An email party is similar to a Facebook party, but also very different.

In fact, I prefer to call it an "email treasure hunt" rather than a party because it works like this:

How An Email Party Works

step 1

Assembling Guests

Your hostess sends out 2 emails (spaced several days apart) to friends and family with a link to opt-in to the treasure hunt. By requiring people to opt-in, this ensures that the ONLY people in your email party are people who really WANT to be there!

step 2

Entice With A Giveaway

Everyone who opts in to your email party automatically gets entered into a giveaway for your product. This will entice people to actually sign up and join.

step 3

The Party Begins

Next, you send your guests 1 email a day for 5 days, each with a different activity or "clue" that they can choose to complete. Each clue completed gives them an extra entry in the giveaway, and everyone who completes all 5 earns a small prize. This encourages people to actually participate and open each email, and complete each activity. Additionally, each "clue"/email is designed to move your guest one step closer to buying, removing any and all obstacles they have to buying.

step 4

Choose & Announce A Winner

On the 6th day you send an email announcing the winner, and include a call to action to buy; Even better if you can give them a special, time-sensitive, offer. By giving a time-sensitive offer, this creates "scarcity" and encourages your guests to buy now, rather than putting it off for later (or never).

step 5

Follow-Up For The Fortune

Finally, follow-up with your guests, customers, and prize winners. Send them valuable emails so that they become loyal customers for life! And that's it!

I'm going to go into more depth on what makes an email party/email treasure hunt great, but first, some context...

What Is A Facebook Party?

Odds are, if you're reading this post, you know what a Facebook party is.

Facebook parties arose as an online way to replicate an in-home party, which has been a staple in direct sales for just about as long as direct sales has been around.

The business owner has someone (usually a customer) host a "party" on Facebook that they then invite their friends and/or family to. Once there, the business owner then demonstrates their products, and what makes them great, usually in a serious of videos, pictures, and games.

This works because the guests are having someone they TRUST endorse a product, and over the course of the party, they are having their objections to buying removed.

The "party" is an example of a time-less strategy that works.

Do Facebook Parties Still Work?

The short answer is yes, Facebook parties still work...

They just take a lot of work, and you have to overcome a lot of obstacles.

If Facebook parties are working for you, then by all means, keep doing them...

But if you are struggling to see the results you would like from your Facebook parties, it may be because you're running into one of the five major problems with Facebook parties...

5 Problems With Facebook Parties

1. Facebook doesn’t like direct sellers

Facebook has been pretty open about not liking direct sellers, but not so open about what exactly it is they don't like.

The rules are changing so fast that you can't keep up with them, and even if you DO follow the rules, you can still get your posts removed...

We've had posts from this very blog removed on from Facebook with no explanation multiple times! It makes no sense whatsoever.

Even worse, you may  end up in the dreaded "Facebook Jail", which means you either can't comment or post for a period of time, or possibly even log in. This has become quite the epidemic now among direct sellers during Facebook parties or company sales.

So if you keep running Facebook parties, you could run into trouble with Facebook because the speculation is that since direct sellers are reusing the same materials that everyone else in their company is using, or they are using the same graphics and scripts for each of their own parties, that Facebook views it as spam.  Another behavior that Facebook flags as spammy, is  posting too frequently within a short timespan, which is the way most parties are designed.

I got an email from Lindsey, with Belinda Elsworth's of Step Into Success, and she observed,

“Trust me, if I could offer you a party script that worked on Facebook, I would. It would be a great day for us both. You would be making money with your uber successful virtual parties, and I would retire early. But sadly, that is not the case. Facebook is not set up with direct sellers in mind."

Her solution is to do live videos, and create your own graphics so it's not a canned Facebook party, and that helps cut down on the chance of being locked up.

So if you do decide to keep running Facebook parties, definitely take her advice.

Of course, with email, there is no "jail"! You can keep reusing the same materials and won't get marked as spam. You can directly contact your guests and hostess without any gate keepers stopping you.

2. They're a lot of work

But, the downside with going live, creating graphics, etc. is that Facebook parties can be a lot of work!

Throw in trying to find a bunch of people to invite, let alone actually show up, games to play, and so on, they can really take a lot out of you.

But an email party, on the other hand, is very simple, and you can just copy and paste the same materials from one to the next!

It's that easy!

3. Hard to find hostesses

A lot of people these days are reluctant to run a Facebook party, and that's because they don't want to feel like they're bugging their friends and family.

How many times have you been asked to be a hostess and you just don't really want to?

Email is much easier!

Your hostess only has to send two emails, the content of which she can just copy and paste from you. Much easier than sending the 50+ invitations that are recommended for Facebook parties! (Not to mention, sending 50 identical Facebook messenger invitations will most definitely land you in jail!)

After those two emails, you take if from there and do the selling for her! She doesn't even have to do the awkward activity of having to follow up later and bug people about placing an order.

As a result, we've found though testing that people are MUCH more likely to agree to host an email party than a Facebook party.

4. Hard to get guests to attend and participate

Because Facebook parties generally take place at a specific time, and people get invited to so many, it can be difficult to actually get guests to show up and participate.

They may also not show because they don't want to feel pressured to buy.

But again, email solves this problem! With email, there is no pressure!

First off, I recommend that you only email those who opt-in to the party, that way, only the people who have raised their hand and said they WANT your emails will get them.

Second, since it's just one email each day for 6 days, they have all day each day to read the email and do the activity, you'll see a lot more participation since it's on their terms, and there is no pressure.

5. Difficult to get guests to buy

Because guests are less likely to show up and participate in a Facebook party, it can be hard to get sales.

We ran two mega Facebook parties during Black Friday (meaning there were tons of special deals), and we had 3 hostesses with tons of guests, and we only got about $900 in sales.

But, when we ran our VERY FIRST email party, with no special deals going on, one hostess with only 7 guests...

We generated nearly $600 in sales!

Email parties work because each email eliminates a barrier to purchasing.

One of the guest said this:

You've done such a great job with this treasure hunt. I love how practical each step was in guiding us to the place where we are ready to buy!"

So she recognized that the emails were guiding her toward buying, but not only did that not bother her, but she enjoyed it!

She even went on to buy 3 or 4 items from me, and asked to be a hostess herself for a future email treasure hunt!

On top of that, my hostess told me this...

I've been really enjoying this treasure hunt, and I think my guests have been too! I'm going to be sad when this is all over. Thanks for for making this happen!

It's amazing! But that's the power of the no-pressure email treasure hunt.

But People Never open my emails!

"I never even open my own email!"

I though you might say that! But we found a way to solve this problem as well!

They key to getting people to open your emails is to make your email party an email treasure hunt! You offer a small prize that your guests have to "hunt" for.

This means that they have to open EVERY email and complete the task inside each email if they want to be able to earn the prize.

When we did this, we got a 100% open rate! 100%! That means each guest opened EACH and EVERY email!

Now, when we used this strategy with an influencer, and had over 100 guests for one treasure hunt, that number dropped to 75%, but that is still an insanely high number for email open rates, and social media for that matter.

Have you ever gotten 75 out of 100 people to do something on social media? Probably not!

Why Email Parties Are Better Than Facebook Parties

So if you've been keeping track, you've seen that there are a lot of things that make email parties better than Facebook parties.

Here's a recap:

  • You can't get blocked or thrown in "jail" like you may on Facebook
  • They are easy to run and duplicate
  • You get more participation and engagement
  • It is easier to find hostesses
  • You get better results: more sales, hostesses, and team members!

I am holding myself back from success and I don’t understand.I do not put in the same amount of effort and I have the inventory on hand I have a blockage somewhere and I’m trying to figure out what that is I would really love to talk to you thank you for reading. (I am open to anyone responding back to me so that way I can have a conversation and really get to the nitty-gritty of what it is that I’m going through thank you)
