I'm just going to say it. Pinterest is better than Facebook for growing a direct sales or network marketing business.
And depending on how long you've been trying to build your business on Facebook, this might not come as too big of a surprise for you.
Sure, there are still ways to grow your business on Facebook...
But they take a lot of time, effort, or money.
Pinterest is simply better than Facebook because you can put less into it and get more out of it than you can with Facebook.
In fact, there are 10 key aspects that make Pinterest better for growing a direct sales business than Facebook.
1. Pinterest Is A Search Engine
You have to think of Pinterest as being more of a search engine than a social media platform.
This means people find your posts (called "pins") by typing in key words or phrases into the search bar.
Why This Is Awesome
If you tag your posts right, then more of the RIGHT people are going to see your posts!
This means you have control over getting traffic to your posts, unlike on Facebook, where you are pretty much completely at their mercy, and they aren't very merciful...
Unless you pay for ads.
2. Longer Post Lifetime
On Pinterest, people can discover something you pinned months or even years in the past!
However, with Facebook, you're lucky if ANYONE sees something you posted ten minutes ago, let alone a day.
Why This Is Awesome
With Pinterest, the work you put in now can pay you back for months and even years to come!
Would you rather BURN your time posting endlessly on Facebook, crossing your fingers and hoping someone will see your post and want to take action?
Or would you rather INVEST your time pinning on Pinterest where people can find your posts years down the road?
I know what I would choose!
3. Pinterest Is Business-Friendly (Facebook Is Not)
Here's the reality: Facebook isn't business-friendly...
Unless you're willing to spend a lot of money on ads.
Facebook has made it clear they want to de-emphasize posts from businesses, and focus more on displaying content from your friends.
You can have a huge business page with tens of thousands followers and still only have your posts seen by a few dozen people...
Unless you pay.
Below is a video by Facebook talking about how they are going to be eliminating posts that contain "spam" and "clickbait".
That's code for direct sales and network marketing (among other things).
Which is why we and others have found ourselves getting put in Facebook jail for no reason, and having posts from this VERY blog taken down by Facebook.
Why? Because we talk about business and direct sales. Facebook doesn't like those things.
Pinterest, on the other hand, IS business friendly!
Why This Is Awesome
This is pretty self-explanatory, but it means you can share your posts about business and not get thrown in Pinterest jail.
Pinterest doesn't even have a jail!
4. Get Better Results For Free
Because Pinterest is a search engine and business-friendly, this means you can get better reach for free!
Why This Is Awesome
This means you will organically have more people see your posts. No paying for ads!
Of course, Pinterest ads are really amazing right now as well, and can get you much better results at a cheaper price than Facebook ads.

5. people are there to bUY!
People are on Pinterest to buy!
Pinterest is where people go when they are already in a buying mindset.
In fact, 90 percent of weekly users use Pinterest to make purchase decisions.
The opposite is true of Facebook. People are there to be social, and not to buy. So any posts about buying something tend to annoy people on Facebook.
Not the case with Pinterest!
On top of this...
Why This Is Awesome
People are ready, able, and willing to buy on Pinterest! This means you can be a little more aggressive with your pinning, and actually ask people to buy without bugging them!
Which of course results in more sales for you!
6. generates more links
Every pin you pin on Facebook contains an external link. This means every pin you post is a link back to your website or your products!
That's what some would call "statistically significant."
Why This Is Awesome
Facebook hates outbound links, which are links that take people off of Facebook.
Pinterest is built for outbound links, so you can pin away and get tons of links back to your website and products without any of the negative consequences you'll find on Facebook.
So what are you waiting for? Get pinning!
7. Ridiculously high user engagement
Pinterest reaches 83 percent of US woman aged 25-54.
So if that sounds like your target audience, then you want to be on Pinterest!
However, 50 percent of new sign-ups in 2018 were men, so it's rapidly growing in popularity among men as well.
Even more exciting, in the past two years, there has been a 75% increase in pins.
Even crazier? 98 percent of users go out and try the ideas they find on Pinterest!
98 PERCENT!
In fact just the other day my daughters found a recipe for a dairy-free, sugar-free, gluten-free cheese cake and made it! And it was delicious!
Try getting 5 percent of people to do something you suggest to them on Facebook, and you can count your blessings!
People don't want to leave Facebook, whereas Pinterest is for finding actionable information, or planning future tasks.
Here are a few more crazy stats about Pinterest from Hootsuite...
Why This Is Awesome
This uber-high user engagement means you're going to get A LOT more people sharing your post on Pinterest than you would on Facebook.
That means more people seeing your content, and more visitors to your website and/or products...
And since these people are more likely to be action-takers and buyers...
This means more leads, sales, and team members for you!
8. Less competition
Not only is Pinterest smaller than Facebook while still boasting 250 million monthly average users, but it is severely underutilized and misunderstood by marketers...
But that's starting to change as I've seen more and more trainers starting to catch on to this amazing platform.
Why This Is Awesome
What if you could have been one of the early adopters of Facebook back before they changed everything to make life extremely hard for small businesses?
Well you probably would have had your business explode like many of the early adopters did.
Well now you have the chance to get on Pinterest and explode your business before the bell curve reaches it's peak.
Now is the best time to get on Pinterest!
9. easier to use
Pinterest is just a lot more streamlined than Facebook.
Like I said above, it's more of a search engine than a social media platform, so there is a lot less to deal with (not to mention no drama!)
All you have to do is set up your account and then pin! Pin to your page and pin to group boards.
And as you get more experience, you can branch out into paid ads if you choose, or even automating your pinning with a tool like Tailwind.
Why This Is Awesome
What this all means is less work and headaches for you when building your business online!
And who doesn't want that?
10. You can grow super-fast starting from nothing!
In order to build a Facebook business page, you have no other choice but to pay for a "likes" campaign in order to get any significant following. Every Facebook marketing expert I know agrees...
You just can't build a Facebook business page without ads.
And then even if you do build a large following fast, Facebook isn't going to show your posts to many of them.
Like I mentioned in point #6, Facebook hates outbound links. They want to keep people on Facebook, so even if you build a large Facebook page, not many people are going to see links to your products or lead magnets...
Unless you pay for ads.
This isn't the case with Pinterest! You can grow super-fast starting from nothing!
Why This Is Awesome
Because you can grow fast on Pinterest, there's no reason not to get started today!
We started a brand new Pinterest account for this blog on May 20th 2019
Below is a post and screenshot we shared in our private Facebook group just 8 days after creating our account!

That's 34,000 viewers in just 8 days on a brand new account!
Have you even had 34,000 people view your Facebook page yet?
Skipping ahead about 2 months into our new account, and we had 148,000 monthly viewers!

This just goes to show how fast you can grow on Pinterest, and as a result...
We now get regular leads and sales from Pinterest. But that's just for my business training business (this blog).

The result is that now I regularly get at least $200 in orders from Pinterest every month, and half a dozen new team-members on autopilot!
And I'm just getting started! I plan on investing a lot more into Pinterest, and seeing where that takes me.
